APICS Michiana Presents -
Value Stream Mapping
Date: Tuesday, January 10, 2006
Joint Meeting with ISM

Bob Montgomery, CPIM
The presentation identifies how to maximize use of the information provided here. The discussion will cover a definition of value stream mapping and provide examples on how to apply the tool to both material and information flows.

The discussion will identify how to draw a Current-State Map and identify important points about the process. The presentation will identify what makes a Value Stream Lean and its characteristics.

Bob will present a Future-State Map and key points in its development. Once the Value Stream Future State is documented, the next key step presented is how one goes about implementing the processes it documents. Once implemented management must make the value stream part of the continuous improvement process.
