APICS Michiana Presents - Education and Careers in Supply Chain Management Date: Tuesday, October 10, 2006 Joint Meeting with ISM Dr. Sime Curkovic Supply Chain Management (SCM) in the future will require different and higher skill levels. SCM has evolved from a tactical transaction-based process into a strategic function. Education and training are crucial components for a successful SCM career. One way to get the required training is through university degree programs where future SCM professionals can learn the necessary skills. So what are employers looking for in a SCM curriculum and prospective job candidates? This presentation sets out to answer this question. Dr. Sime Curkovic is Associate Professor of Integrated Supply Management at Western Michigan University. He has a PhD from Michigan State University, and a BS via Kettering University. Sime Curkovic's research interests include environmentally responsible manufacturing, total quality management, supply chain management, and integrated global strategic sourcing. Dr. Curkovic's publications have appeared and/or are under review in the International Journal of Purchasing and Materials Management, the IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, the Decision Sciences Journal, the International Journal of Operations and Production Management, the International Journal of Production Research, and the Journal of Quality Management. Dr. Curkovic's previous work experiences were with General Motors in the Midwest, Mexico, and Germany. His dissertation on the relationship between Total Quality Management and Environmentally Responsible Manufacturing won three awards.
