APICS Michiana Presents -
Deduct It! An Irreverent Look At Taxes
Date: Tuesday, February 12, 2008
Joint Meeting with ISM and IMA organizations

Claude Renshaw
It may be surprising to some, but the tax lore is replete with amusing anecdotes, court cases, and IRS follies. Participants will enjoy drawing from a fun collection of these items, including a few one liners, and some other wrinkles, such as:
  • What happens when a main claims expenses for his wife, after he has murdered her?
  • What did Congress have in mind when that included certain provisions in the tax law such as the requirement that students claiming either of the education credits must not have been convicted of a drug-related felony?
  • What happens when the 'offer in compromise' is applied to an alleged tax bill of thirty BILLION dollars?
  • What would happen if, in the wake of the Roth IRA, the Cloverdale Education Account, and the Archer Medical Savings Account, there were other personal and corporate sponsorships of various provisions of the tax law?

  • Claude Renshaw is a professor in the department of Business Administration and Economics at Saint Mary's College at Notre Dame. Mr Renshaw has been quoted in USA Today and is a regular guest on local television and radio shows during tax season.
